Minimum age 12 on the day of the event.Runners 12 -15 years of age will have a mandatory ‘Cut’ at 21km (i.e. all runners under that prescribed ages who have not been Cut earlier, will be ‘Cut’ at the end of respective lap - regardless of finishing position on that lap.We do now have an exciting Junior version of The Cut; for ages 10-16 years, a maximum of 30 runners, running 500m laps with no less than 2km and no more than 5km to be run!

RACE SCHEDULE

The following event times are approximate only:

11:30 AM // approx First Cut (end lap 7)

** 12:45-1:30 PM // First Intermission (end lap 11)

1:30 PM // Laps 12-23 (18-34.5km) start

** 3:15-4:00 PM // Second intermission (end lap 23) - The Cut Junior - cuts from Lap 4 onwards (max. 10 laps/5km)

4:00 PM // Laps 24-34 (34.5 - 50km) start

** 5:30 PM // Race finishes with a HOT LAP of the velodrome - 500m to make it 50km (and good for the spectators)

5:40-9:30 PM // Post-race "socialising" or get involved in the Halloween Hustle!

FIXX NUTRITION will be our hydration partner for ‘The Cut’ and the ‘Halloween Hustle!

Chilled water will also be available within the precinct for participants.

There WILL NOT be disposable cups at the event - participants must bring their own reusable cups or bottles (or purchase one from the Merchandise tent)

The bar will be open from 11:00am with cool Mountain Goat Beer and a variety of soft drink options. Please take advantage of the blue ‘10 Cent Tom’ recycling bins with any empty cans!

Runners are encouraged to bring friends/family/running team etc and setup their own zone within the event precinct. Runners are allowed to bring a 3x3 gazebo and/or picnic rugs to stake an area for their own; you can use this area to refuel or restock supplies between laps (if you're quick!) or within intermission periods.

The party precinct will expand as the day goes on as people begin arriving for the Halloween Hustle - an exciting twilight (kids) and night trail run experience (older kids and adults).

Prizes will be awarded for the following categories:

Overall winner - first runner across the finish line on the final ‘HOT LAP’.
Most laps completed (team) - awarded to the team with the most cumulative laps completed. Note that the lap on which a runner is cut is counted towards the team total.
e.g.: Team Super Friends has members Ralph, Lisa and Martin. Ralph completes 12 laps (and is cut at the end of lap 12), Lisa completes 16 laps (and is then cut), and Martin completes 40 laps (and is then cut). The team cumulative lap total is 68. It does not matter how many laps the team wins.
Most laps completed (team pro rata) - awarded to the team with the most laps completed per team member. To qualify, teams must have a minimum of 5 team members. Their cumulative lap total is divided by the number of team members and the team with the highest per capita score wins a prize.
Eg: Team Norths has 8 runners who complete 216 laps in total - a score of 27, Run Central have a team of 6 runners who complete 180 laps in total - a score of 30 - Run Central win :-)
Most laps won (individual) - awarded to the runner who wins the most laps.
Eg: Jane Doe runs 17 laps before being cut, and of those 17 laps she wins 7. Jack Spratt runs 12 laps before being cut, but wins 8 of the 12 laps he runs. Jack would be the winner of this category.

There will not be a formal presentation ceremony at the event except for the overall winner - winner's will be notified post-event via social media and email.

There will be additional spot prizes given out on the day thanks to our mates from fisiocrem, BROOKS, Mountain Goat Beer, Gold Coast Physio & Sports Health, Trail Brew and Wild Earth.

Non-Running Activities

In addition to The Cut being run, there will be plenty of other stuff going across the day:

DJ during the day and live music (in the evening);

Casual games

Coffee & food vans

fisiocrem Massages

Trackside bar

Jumping Castle & activities for the kids

Runners and spectators are encouraged to bring a 3x3 gazebo, picnic rugs, board games, grazing platters - whatever - and make a day out of watching the race and enjoying the fun at The Cut.

Please note, the event is conducted on the bitumen Criterium Track.

The nature of the tracks design means we can throw multiple options at you; clock-wise, anti-clockwise, figure of 6, the hilly Figure 8… what else will we have in store in 2024?!!

We will let you know the lap of choice as well as the number of runners to be eliminated before you head out on each lap to keep you on your toes - literally!!
